Schedules, Locations, & Fees

 

The Cleveland Kendo Association practices in Beachwood, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland) at the Bally Total Fitness. Practices are open to the entire community.

 

Please contact us first if you wish to visit any practice, in order to confirm its locations. If you are new to the club you must fill out a waiver form before you will be allowed to join the practice.

Note: The next new student session will begin in May and September 2009. The classes are held at Bally's in Beachwood and start promptly at 3:00 pm - 4:30pm every Saturday. Please arrive 30 minutes early on your first day to allow for registration.

The Cleveland Kendo Association Club was established in 1986 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of the art of Kendo (Japanese fencing).

The Japanese Language School Kendo Club is an independent Kendo club who receives instruction from the Cleveland Kendo Association. The classes are conducted mainly in Japanese.

All classes are open to the public.

Fees paid to the Cleveland Kendo Association

Students may attend as many classes as they wish during the week for the one monthly rate. There are no contracts.

 

Note: We are "non-commercial" group and do not profit from Kendo, but only seek cover our minimum expenses and keep Kendo affordable and accessible. Our instructors are all volunteers.


$30/mo individual (paid in advance for three months)

$45 per month family (paid in advance for three months)

● $8 guest fee (for visiting Kendoists)

CKA Membership: $50.00  (once per year)
Kendo Federation: $50.00 (once per year)

Visitors: Visitors are always welcome to watch our practice (send us an e-mail to let us know you are coming). We are happy to answer any of your questions before and after the scheduled practice.

Kendo practice at CWRU is restricted to CWRU students, staff, faculty, and advanced members from the other clubs who provide instruction to CWRU students, subject to the rules of the University's athletic department. An entrance fee of $5 for non-CWRU member is required. If there is not a CWRU member present, non-CWRU members cannot practice at CWRU gym.

Visitors: Visitors are always welcome to watch our practice.

 

Parking:  There is limited free parking (after 6 p.m.) at the meters located on Adelbert Rd.  There is a paid parking lot located directly across the street from the gym.
